The Perpetua Press was established by Dean Bornstein in 1991 in New York City. While a staff designer with the venerable Ron Gordon at The Oliphant Press, he concurrently published his own wood engravings and letterpress books under this new imprint. In 1993 The Perpetua Press moved to Vermont and Dean began designing and producing books for photographers and writers, major museums, scholarly publishers and other non-profit institutions. The Press has won numerous design awards including AIGA 50 Best Books, the New England Book Show Best of Category, and recognition from the Association of American University Presses. Dean is a graduate of Hamilton College, a member of the Society of Printers, and is an active blues musician.
